About the Centre

Sankalp–Daycare centre is an institution which aims to cater the needs of challenged children and their families. The centre provides a natural & healthy environment for the children with large open play area. This centre is the first of its kind in Kanpur, located in the heart of Kanpur city (Civil Lines) within the premises of "Georgina McRobert Hospital" although, the centre has an independent area and entrance.

The Centre deals with children having mental retardation, cerebral palsy, speech & language delay, autism spectrum disorders, hyperactivity and ADHD etc. in a comprehensive manner for their over all development.

We have a dedicated staff which includes special educators, volunteer workers, speech therapist, physiotherapist and psychologist along with the supportive staff to take care of the basic needs of the children.

The Centre is managed by efficient & caring staff which is headed by medical doctor who is also parent of a challenged child.

What We do

At this centre, we provide training & education for special children so as to make them self dependent as far as possible. This is supported by physiotherapy, speech therapy, behavior modification & medical assistance as per the individual needs of the each child. The children are given sufficient opportunities to explore their surroundings & interact with people around. We believe that as with other normal children, these children will also grow up in a better way if proper exposure and opportunities are given to them.

We also conduct individual counseling sessions for parents and / or other family member of the child to help them overcome their stress and deal with their situation in a better way.

We cater to the needs of children on individual basis according to individual education program (IEP) formulated on the guidelines of NIMH, Secunderabad. These IEPs include motor and play activities, activities to teach functional academics, activities to improve communication skills(and not just verbal speech) and activities to enhance social and self help skills. Older children are also taught pre-vocational and vocational skills. Along with this, we also encourage group activities among the children so that they learn to take care of each other and take responsibilities.

Get Involved

As we all know, monetary resources are important for maintenance and proper functioning of the institution so that it can provide quality services to all its beneficiaries. A part of it come from the monthly fee, we seek you generous support in terms of donations &/or sponsorships/ contributions.

Since it is not possible for us to arrange for a variety of events for children due to lack of monetary resources, lack of time and limited creativity, we invite people from society to arrange various events so that our children too get to have a look at the different colors of life.

We look forward to your visits to the centre to spend your valuable time with our children. Volunteers coming on daily (part time) basis can help us in one to one interaction with individual child to overcome individual deficiencies and enhance individual skills.

Your valuable suggestions are also welcome.
